Your tasks, habits and notes —
under a solid lock

Your Bro helps you keep your day on track, build habits and store personal notes locally on your device — with encryption, a PIN, biometrics and an encrypted backup.

  • Local storage
  • SQLCipher encryption
  • No third-party trackers

Features

Everything for your day, habits and personal notes

One tool instead of several apps — no cloud account by default and no excessive permissions.

Tasks with flexible planning

Create tasks for a single day, a date range or selected dates and slots. Set start and end times, assign priorities — and keep the whole day in one place.

Habits

Build good routines or quit bad ones. Categories, create- and break-habits in one place.

Progress & calendar

Streaks, progress and a habit calendar show your dynamics. For break-habits — a tally of money saved.

Notes & attachments

Keep personal notes and add attachments. Everything is stored locally and protected by encryption.

Voice & video

Add voice and video notes when typing is inconvenient. Media is encrypted on the device with AES-256-GCM.

Reminders

Don't forget your tasks. After a device restart, reminders are rescheduled automatically.

Speech recognition

Offline-first speech recognition via Vosk turns your voice into text on the device. The language model is downloaded separately.

Privacy & security

Designed with privacy in mind

Personal data is stored locally and protected by encryption — with no third-party analytics or trackers.

Below are the concrete mechanisms, without loud promises. No system offers absolute protection, but the approach is built to seriously safeguard your data.

Honestly: these mechanisms noticeably improve protection, but they don't replace the basic security of the device itself or the strength of your passwords.

  • Local storage

Tasks, habits and notes are stored on the device. No cloud account is required by default.

  • SQLCipher for the database

The database is encrypted with SQLCipher, so the DB contents are protected on the device.

  • AES-256-GCM for media

Attachments, voice and video notes are encrypted with AES-256-GCM.

  • PIN & biometrics

App access can be protected with a PIN and biometrics for fast, secure entry.

  • Android Keystore & EncryptedSharedPreferences

Keys and secrets are stored via Android Keystore and EncryptedSharedPreferences.

  • FLAG_SECURE

The FLAG_SECURE flag limits screenshots and previews in the recent apps list.

  • No third-party trackers

The app has no third-party analytics or trackers. System Android backup is excluded.

Backup

A backup that's encrypted before upload

The backup is protected by a separate password on the device — and only then sent to cloud storage. The Google account itself is not the decryption key.

1

Device

Data is gathered for the backup locally on your device.

2

Password encryption

The copy is encrypted with a separate backup password before being sent.

3

Google Drive

The encrypted file is uploaded to the appDataFolder service folder in Google Drive.

What's important to understand

  • Google Drive is used as storage for the encrypted file.
  • The copy is encrypted on the device before upload to the cloud.
  • A backup password is needed to restore.
  • Without the password the backup cannot be decrypted.
  • The Google account by itself is not the decryption key.

Honest about the limits

  • Full restoration of all data and media on any device is not guaranteed.
  • Some media uses device-bound keys — moving it to another device may be risky.
  • Keep the backup password safe: without it, restoration is impossible.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Where is my data stored?

Tasks, habits and notes are stored locally on your device. The database is encrypted with SQLCipher, and media with AES-256-GCM.

Does Your Bro work without the internet?

The app is designed offline-first: core features work on the device. The internet is needed for specific things — for example, backup to Google Drive or the initial download of the Vosk language model.

What goes into Google Drive?

Only the encrypted backup file, which is encrypted on the device before upload. It is placed in the appDataFolder service folder.

Can I use it without the cloud?

Yes. Backup to Google Drive is a separate feature. Without it, the app keeps working locally on the device.

Are there analytics and trackers?

The app has no third-party analytics or trackers. System Android backup is also excluded so data doesn't go into system cloud copies without the app's encryption.

What if I forget the backup password?

Without the password the backup cannot be decrypted. The password is not stored in the cloud and cannot be recovered — keep it safe.

Do I need a Google account?

Only if you want to use backup to Google Drive. Even then, the account itself is not the decryption key — a separate password is still required to restore.

Which devices does the app run on?

Your Bro is an app for Android (7.0 and above). There are no iOS or web versions.
